Fylde Lodge of Mark Master Masons No 296

Meeting 25th April 2024 at the Masonic Hall, Adelaide Street, Blackpool.
24 Brethren present including the RWPGM, VWBro. John Forster & VWBro. Robert McGown who are both PGJO’s, WBro. Tony Cross DGSwdB and WBro. Ernest Gavan PGJD and a host of Provincial Officers.
WBro. Paul Smedley, WM of Cleveleys Mark Lodge No. 1176 was also in attendance.
The WM, WBro. Mark Brown opened the meeting with WBro. Steve James Prov GSD (EL) acting as SW and WBro. Peter Green PProvGSO acting as JW.
The WM offered the RWPGM the gavel of the Lodge, which was accepted and quickly returned before the WM had chance to escape!
Salutations were given to the RWPGM, VW Brethren, Grand Officers and Provincial Officers, who all suitably responded!

The business on the summons was worked through up to the highlight of the evening; a lecture on the Mark Degree Tracing Board to be given by WBro. Bob Bennett, who had agreed to attend despite the fact that his beloved Man City were on the TV and were probably going to and ultimately did, give Brighton a thumping!
The lecture was a tour de force in ritual delivery and given with great passion and enthusiasm and which was well received by all present!
The WM was among many to thank WBro. Bennett for the excellent lecture!
All the business being completed, WBro. Cross provided some information regarding a Craft mason to dine evening to be held by Bispham with Norbreck Mark Lodge No. 866 in October 2024, which was proposed to be used as a showcase and recruitment night for all the Mark Lodges on the coast. Watch this space for more information and updates.

The RWPGM reminded everybody about PGL on Thursday 2nd May 2024.

All the business being completed, the WM closed the Lodge and the members and visitors retired to the bar and onto the festive board, where an excellent meal accompanied by a lively atmosphere and good craic was found.
WBro. Peter Green the Lodge Chairty Steward (Robin Hood impersonator) organised a raffle that raised £125 for charity.

A good night was definitely had by all!
